What to expect
Meet weekly
Ten 2-hour sessions on Zoom, Wednesdays 6–8 PM ET. You get login instructions one week before the first class.
Work the questions together
Each week we go over the end-of-section questions in The Payroll Source. Read the sections first, then bring your answers and your questions to the group.
Bring your own copy. You buy The Payroll Source yourself, from PayrollOrg's Bookshelf or another bookseller. It is not included in the fee.
A refresher, not a first course
The group is for people who plan to take the exam. Learn the material first on your own or through a PayrollOrg or local college course. The CPP and FPC handbooks are good resources too.

The study group helps you focus as your test date approaches and measures what you know.
Already certified?
Earn RCHs to keep your certification active. Each 2-hour session you attend is worth 2 RCHs, up to 20 RCHs. Only one study group per calendar year counts toward your RCHs, so choose the winter or the summer group.
About the exam
Next exam window: Spring 2027. Register with PayrollOrg Nov 9, 2026 – Apr 16, 2027. Take the exam Jan 4 – Apr 17, 2027. The winter group (Jan 20 – Mar 24) fits inside this window.
Fall 2027 dates will be posted by PayrollOrg. The summer group (Jun 16 – Aug 18) is timed for the fall window. Dates change each year, so confirm on PayrollOrg before you register (dates as of Oct 2026). You can take the exam online from home or the office using OnVUE.
