About PRIDE Month
June marks PRIDE month, which celebrates the history of Pride week. June 28, 1970 marked the turning point for gay rights in the United States after the Stonewall Riot of June 1969, which resulted in a violent police raid and riot. This pivotal moment won over liberation. The month long observance celebrates and recognizes the LGBTQ pride, acknowledging lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer culture as a community.
