You may already be certified and are seeking an economical way to earn RCHs to retain your certification and keep your payroll knowledge current.

 The NY Metro Chapter is here to assist you in preparing for the CPP or FPC exams as well as retaining your certification.

 NY Metro’s Board of Directors Study Group Chair & Government Liaison, Christopher Wood crwood3@gmail.com will facilitate and Rita Mejia Rita.Mejia1@optum.com will be our online host.

***IMPORTANT*** 

  • The study group is a refresher course for those planning to test. You will not be taught from scratch

  • FIRST, Learn the material via self-instruction or attend a course offered by PayrollOrg or a local college

  • The FPC and CPP handbooks will provide many resources that can be applied to learn the material

  • After which, the study group meetings can help you focus as your test approaches

  • The Study group can be utilized as an assessment tool to measure knowledge & timed testing skills

 Already certified?

  • The study group can grant you up to 20 RCHs per year to help maintain your certification

  • Each 2-hour session attended is worth 2 RCHs

  • You cannot receive credit for the same 2-hour session in a calendar year (winter & summer)

Important Study Group Requirements & Information

  • Date: 1/22/25 - 3/26/25

  • Duration: 10 weeks

  • Virtual Meeting: Weekly on Wednesdays

  • Time: 6 pm - 8 pm

  • Online (You will be provided with Login Instructions 1week prior to when classes begin)

    REGISTRATION - NOW CLOSED

    • Study Materials: You are responsible for obtaining The Payroll Source – 2025 Edition at: Product

    • Read Sections One and Ten before the first meeting & complete the short answer; true/false and multiple-choice questions

    • If you do not have the 2025 edition, 2024 will do as a study tool - update any limitation references to those about year 2025

    • 2025 limitations can be found in IRS Publications 15a and 15b: 2025 Publication 15-A and 2025 Publication 15-B

    • Before registering for an exam, you must read the certification CPP or FPC handbook published by the Certification Board of PayrollOrg to ensure you qualify to take the exam

    • Afterwards, there are specific steps you must take before you can register

     Exam details for Spring 2025

    • The SPRING exam registration window will be open from November 11, 2024, through April 18, 2025.

    • Candidates will sit for the exam from January 6 through April 19, 2025.

    • The exam will feature questions based on federal laws and regulations in effect as of January 1, 2024.
